Welder
JOB SUMMARY:
Produces conveyors and equipment by welding and assembling components for conveyors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembles and welds conveyor frame components from the blueprints provided.
- Responsible for the overall conveyor quality, which includes its functionality and acceptable appearance.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment and or method based on requirements.
- Aligning components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamping pieces.
- Maintaining equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Operates forklift to move product.
- Operates a variety of hand tools and machines to identify/assemble the parts received and build the conveyor.
- Maintains inter- and intradepartmental workflow by displaying positive communication, actions, and cooperation.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Maintains logs, records, and reports concerning production, machine maintenance, and product inconsistencies.
- Inventories tools, parts, and supplies; contacts materials handler if supplies are needed.
- Driving a company vehicle may be required in the course of performing duties for this position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Professional Certification (e.g., an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus.
- Knowledge of wire feed welders is desired.
- Knowledge on crane operation is desired.
- Assembly of conveyors or material handling equipment is desired.
- Knowledge of drive components and proper assembly methods is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- MIG welding experience preferred.
- Familiar with set up of welder.
- Ability to read 2D and 3D prints.
- Able to weld a variety of thicknesses. (e.g.: 1/8 inch up to 3 inches)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Detail-oriented and consistent.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Ability to properly maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment.
- Basic ability in mathematics, reading, and writing.
- Ability to read tape measure down to 1/16.
- Valid Driver’s License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
